Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to start a chapter?

Thanks to the generosity of students like you at our existing chapters, participating in our "Pay It Forward" initiative, getting FSM to a new campus comes at zero cost to the new chapter.

Do we need church support to start?

Yes. Every FSM Chapter must have a church partner in order to launch. If you are eager to start a chapter and do not have a willing church partner, reach out to us anyway. So long as we have students who are ready to move, FSM staff will help secure a faithful church partner.

How many students do we need to start?

FSM chapters opperate as "clubs" or "student organizations" on their local campuses, so we follow the campus regulations for minimum students to launch. This is typically 3 or 4 students.

Do we have to be an officially recognized student organization?

Yes. This is how we are able to table regularly on campus without getting kicked off the premises. However, please note that if your campus has a "free speech zone" and there are complications with becoming officially recognized as a student organization, FSM headquarters is willing to work with your chapter and make acceptions when necessary for the greater mission.

What if our campus already has other Christian organizations?

I hope it does! And as an FSM chapter, we hope that you will partner and work along side those organizations as well. Different organizations have different approaches, and therefore reach different people. We are not in competition with other Christian organizations, but can multiply our impact by working in colaboration with them.

How often do chapter host outreach events?

This varies depending on the chapters needs and the Universities regulations. That being said, we hold the ideal to be a weekly "let's talk about it" outreach event, with other events being held as additions too (not replacements of) this flagship outreach event.

What kind of training is required?

In order to host our "let's talk about it" event, we need at least one of your chapter club members to be certified as a Free Speech Ambassador. This certification takes roughly five hours to complete, and then has requirements to maintain.
